FAQ'S

Got a question? Check out our FAQ's below

Can my child try multiple instruments at their trial session?

Due to structure of the session, they must pick a discipline for their taster session as they will receive an hour’s lesson on this and can’t switch between lessons halfway through. We will do our best to give them an idea of the different instruments if they are interested. If a student wishes to try a different instrument the following week, then they are very welcome to switch providing we have availability.

Will my child need their own instrument?

If you don’t have a guitar/bass guitar/drum kit at home then for the first term they can use ours at the session (no extra charge). Once you are happy that your child is going to stick with it and wants to continue, we recommend that you get them an instrument to practice on as soon as you can, as this will help their progress hugely. If you let them go more than a term without their own instrument, they will struggle to show any progress. If you would like advice on purchasing guitars or electric drum kits (no noise!) then please get in contact.

My child only has an acoustic guitar, is this ok?

Yes, acoustic guitars and electric guitars have the same strings/frets and therefore will be fine, they just feel different to hold. They won’t be able to plug an acoustic guitar into our PA system during the group session, but they can borrow our electric guitars for this if they want to be heard! An electric guitar would be a good thing to have eventually, especially when we have a gig coming up.

Can I stay and watch the
trial session?

No. In line with our safeguarding policy, and due to the performance aspect of our sessions, parents are not permitted to stay at a session. It is unfair on our regular students to have unfamiliar adults in attendance. If your junior child is a nervous child then we will allow you in for the first 5/10 mins whilst we settle in and talk about our week, but we ask you to leave as we finish this, many thanks.

Where can I buy an instrument for my child?

Speak to your local team, either the session manager, your child's tutor or the franchisee who will all be pleased to help with suggestions of reputable local or online stores to buy from.

My child is a beginner,
is this a problem?

It's perfectly fine for beginners to join The Rock Project, our sessions are designed to help young musicians learn, grow, and gain confidence—no experience needed!
