Isle of Man Franchisee, David Rowles
David Rowles
Dave is a co-founder of the Isle of Man’s only private music education service, Mannin Music. He started learning music from a very early age and music has always been central to his life.
He had classical training on violin and piano, but took up drums on the suggestion of his violin teacher. He quickly found that rock music was more his passion and has since learnt guitar and bass, plus he’s not a bad singer!
Dave has played in several bands over the years, and thinks that group performance is the best way to enjoy your instrument.
“Nothing beats playing in a band.” Dave says ”Having the others to back you up and jamming together is the reason I learnt so many instruments, so I could play as much as possible!”. No matter what style of music he’s called to play, Dave enjoys it all.
Not only is he an accomplished musician, Dave also has a degree in sound recording and works as a professional sound engineer. He has 14 years experience of working in the music industry, and has toured all around the world with various artists, including Steve Hackett and Vanessa-Mae.
Dave is really looking forward to welcoming students to The Rock Project: “The Rock Project is a friendly and relaxed way of getting into playing music, or improving on your existing skills, with lots of fun to be had being able to socialise with like minded guys and gals! Getting together with other players and putting together songs in a band is the most rewarding way of making noise!”
Keep an eye out for the RP van around the island!
