Bath Franchisee, Mike Aris

Mike Aris

When Mike was asked what instrument he wanted to play in Year 4 at school, he answered, the Trumpet, because it’s loud. After also picking up the guitar and finding his singing voice, probably again in the pursuit of volume, many years later he went on to study music at Bath Spa University. He has had a very varied musical training and career ranging from performances in operas, musicals and choirs to playing in orchestras and big bands, as well as pursuing band projects, including a six-man acapella group, No Direction, amongst other function bands.

Mike plays trumpet in both The Rosa Gray Band and, Clyve and the Soul City Foundation, who regularly gig around the Bath/Bristol area, including events such as Bathfest, Bath International Music Festival and the Special Olympics Opening Ceremony. He has also supported Everything Everything, appeared on BBC Radio Bristol live lounge, and backed Radio 2’s Clare Teal, as part of her band. Recently he has been performing in national pantomime tours with The Panto Bus.

From Mozart to AC/DC, Mike has a very broad interest in music and performance, and is very much looking forward to being a part of The Rock Project.
